I forgot yesterday! Of all things, I forgot to weigh myself yesterday morning before I ate or drank anything. Jeez! Just stupid! I was thinking too much about the new intern starting and how nervous I was about that situation. I had a lot on my mind and didn't think of it all until I had drank some water to take my prescriptions and vitamins.
Anyways, we all kind of waited for this for nothing as my weight did not change at all this past week. Kind of frustrating but I feel good about last week. I didn't overeat and I was dealing with my back so I could not be as active as I wanted to be. All of that combined went to 0 lost but 0 gained, still at 25 pounds lost overall. That's still a good number for 3 weeks and my clothes are fitting a little bit better which is nice. Not a lot of loss around the midsection and my upper body but there has been some progress which is the goal.
My back is feeling better these last 2 days so I'm hoping it will be okay now but it's been touchy so I'm taking nothing for granted with it.

Weekend Before Work
This is the weekend before my work world changes a little bit. The intern I'll be managing starts on Monday. I'm excited about it but also have a great deal of nervousness. I feel prepared but a new situation is always something I fret about. I know it'll all be okay and work out in the end but until I get into it a little, you wouldn't be able to fully convince me of that. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
The last two days have been better. My back is loosening up some and that's allowed me to run some errands, do some chores and also relax a bit. I think the frustration I feel when my back is bad adds to the pain and just helps to make it even worse. The eating has been fine these last few days too. Last night it was a little bowl of pasta, today was a sandwich for lunch and a couple of grilled pork chops for dinner.
I just hope that tomorrow I wake up and feel even better back-wise. The free range of movement I had for a week and a half there was pretty awesome. I got used to walking "normal" and being able to just do things and not worry about what it was going to feel like. I did not overdo it though because I knew it wasn't a good idea to do that and mess myself up again. That's what made it all so much more frustrating. Oh well, I'm sure if you're actually reading this you're tired of hearing me whine about my back. Maybe tomorrow will be something better as far as a post goes.

Picnic Time!
Yesterday was our annual P&C Picnic. It's a day that we all look forward to every year because for a half day, we get to go outside, eat some good food, play some games, talk with friends and have an all around bear-awesome time! Even with the back problems this year I still had a wonderful time. A pulled pork sandwich and two brats...I know it was a little much to eat but I did not have breakfast just so I could have a little bit more. It was sooooooooo good.
I was unable to play in it but there was a spirited softball game that took place. Will "Ferocious" Yocius was a hitting star, Nick Hinzman pitched both sides of the game so he had two complete games but finished with a 1-1 record and was unceremoniously booed multiple times, Kellen Key showed everyone how not to hustle but still be good, Rob Bryant "slid" into 2nd (sliding is a generous term) and in the end Kristi Cima's team, "The LARPers" got the victory. There were no injuries to report which is, I believe, a record.
A day full of sunshine and no rain led to heightened spirits and lots of fun memories. Heck, I'm already looking forward to next year's picnic!!!

So This Sucks A Little!
Happy fun time is over and it SUCKS!! Most things are still good but I woke up this morning in "Holy Shit my back f'ing hurts!!!" Mode. Feels like a knot in my lower back that won't let go. I need to work through this but it is very frustrating because my back had felt so good over the last 2 weeks or so.
Last night Bonny came over and I grilled some chicken that was really pretty good. There were some extras and thats what I had for lunch. She brought over some delicious scalloped corn and showed me how to make lemon shake ups. Very, very good!!
Some other good news, my friend Jeremy passed his PMP Test today! I know he's been working hard on that and it's a tremendous accomplishment. Congratulations to him!!!!
So, fingers crossed that I wake up tomorrow for our P&C picnic with a much better feeling back. That would be great so I could have a good time.

Monday Night...What An Exciting Title!
Sitting here tonight flipping between the Cards-Diamondbacks and Heat-Pacers games. Cards game is going well, the Pacers are not. Looks like we will have a Heat-Spurs NBA Finals....go Spurs!! I also finished Gone Girl tonight. An excellent book although I was not in love with the overall ending. It was okay but the rest of the book more than made up for it.
I was going to grill out tonight but did not. I made some chicken, veggies and rice which was really good. I made enough to take in for lunch tomorrow as well which will be nice and a delicious lunch. I've been a little tired today which doesn't really surprise me because I was up a little later last night. The bad thing was that the area on my back right by my left shoulder blade was really sore this morning and I wasn't sure why. It has felt better though as day has gone along which has made me feel a little better about it.
It was a beautiful day out today and I'm hoping tomorrow is nice as well. I need to get out to walk. I turned down just walking to Subway with my friend Alison today because I wanted to read my book....kinda dumb but that book was humming along!! Haha! I should've walked though. Hopefully she will be free to walk tomorrow too, get moving a little more and always good company.

Monday Morning Weigh-In #2
This morning was the 2nd weigh-in with a weight loss on this journey. I only lost 2 pounds this last week to bring my total lost to 25 pounds. That's pretty good though over 2 weeks and I'm very happy. Like I said last night, I was expecting this because the weight just wasn't going down day to day on the scale even though I ate very well all week and exercised. And that first week is always artificially inflated because your...or my body at least...reacts that way to eating less and gives me a huge number first week and low number second week.
I'm still very encouraged and am feeling very good. I do hope the number is more than 2 pounds next week but every pound adds up and they each make me feel a little bit better.

Sort of a Lazy Sunday
This Sunday has been filled with some pop culture. I had gotten done a lot of things over the last week or so and I did not have a lot to do today. Sooooooo, I decided to make it a lazy day. I finally started watching the new episodes of Arrested Development on Netflix that came out last Sunday. I've made it through 6 episodes so far. I'm torn because I want to watch them all very quickly but also do not want them to be over so quickly thus, I am trying to space them out a little bit. I hadn't really realized how much I'd missed that crazy cast of characters though. Some of my friends know that I'm very proud (I know it's the wrong word but it works) that I'm one of the few people who watched that show while it was actually on Fox. I t was just one of THOSE shows that no one else would buy in on. Thankfully people did after it was on DVD....God bless DVD for things like that!
I've also started reading a book that my friend Matt Fuller loaned me. It's the book 'Gone Girl' by Gillian Flynn. I don't normally read a lot of fiction but I kept seeing it named on lists of really good reads and it intrigued. I'm about one quarter through it and I'm hooked. In a nutshell, it's about a woman that goes missing and through the first part of the book has the story of what her husband is going through and every other chapter is a date in her diary. It chronicles the deterioration of their relationship. I'm hoping that the last 3/4 of the book is as good as the first 1/4.
I'm currently grilling a ribeye for dinner. It feels like fall outside with the temps hovering around 50-60 degrees all day and firing up the grill seemed like the thing to do! HA! I had some tuna fish for lunch which was really good but was joined by a not-so-good protein fruit smoothie that I got from an internet recipe. It did not have anything in it that was really "cold" so at the end, the shake was kinda warm which isn't optimal. Oh well, sometimes you try things and they aren't good. Live and learn.
Well, tomorrow morning is a weigh-in and I'll try to do a post in the morning with the results. The number isn't very big right now but that's generally how things go for me in the 2nd week. You get that huge first week, a small 2nd week as your body kinda catches up to ya and adjusts some but every little bit helps and I've just been doing so well that I can be proud of the progress.
